Interagency statement

Working together
UNICEF/UN

Highlights

UNICEF, UN Women, WHO, ILO, FAO, UNDP, UNFPA and UNPRPD worked together to develop an inter-agency statement on violence against girls with disabilities, listing the main rights violations they face, along with key advocacy messages targeting States, international organizations, civil society and any other stakeholders, highlighting areas where the implementation of the right of girls with disabilities to be free from violence can be strengthened.

The statement analyzes the phenomenon of violence against girls with disabilities, its widespread character and its forms, and the main risk factors, and contains recommendations for the respect, protection and fulfilment of the right to a life free from violence in all spheres.

A validation survey on the content of the statement was conducted with girls and youth with disabilities to allow them to express their opinions on the situations of violence they face.
