03 April 2024

As part of UNICEF's 'Baby-Friendly Clinic Initiative' program, trainings on '10 Steps to Successful Breastfeeding' have been initiated at the Perinatal Center of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

The purpose of the trainings, which will be held from April 2 to 4, is to promote breastfeeding, discourage the use of artificial food, feeding bottles, and pacifiers, emphasize the importance of breastfeeding for both the baby and the mother, address difficulties during feeding, and increase the knowledge and skill levels of the secondary medical staff.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the training, the director of the Nakhchivan AR Perinatal Center, Ulkar Bayramova, stated that children's rights are fundamentally protected in our country. Thus, in accordance with the 'Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Children for 2020-2030' approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated June 2, 2020, appropriate measures are being implemented in the country, including autonomous republic. In our republic, the protection and development of children and the protection of their rights occupy an important place in the social policy of the state.

Next, Tohfa Jamilova, the head of UNICEF's Health and Nutrition Program in Azerbaijan, delivered a speech and emphasized the importance of wide promotion of breastfeeding both among the population and in antenatal medical institutions.
