A postman distributes information materials for the prevention of COVID-19, developed by UNICEF in Romania, in Moeciu de Jos, Brașov County, May 5, 2020. The action takes place as a result of the partnership between the Romanian Post and UNICEF in Romania, which aims to distribute messages of prevention to the most vulnerable children, parents, grandparents and other people caring for children, in the first phase, as a test, in Bacău and Brașov counties.

Bucharest, May 5, 2020 - UNICEF and the Romanian Post join forces to prevent COVID-19 infection. The company will distribute, to the population, together with the postal items and the social rights, information materials regarding the prevention of the infection. The campaign will take place, for a start, in the counties of Brasov and Bacau and is dedicated to children, parents and carers.

In the context of the situation caused by COVID-19, UNICEF in Romania is developing a series of communication materials dedicated to children, parents, caregivers and professionals working for children. The goal is to help them better protect themselves and their loved ones to prevent the virus from spreading. At the same time, they come with recommendations for parents on how to discuss the current situation with their children, but also with ideas for children on how to spend this unplanned vacation.

In order to ensure that prevention messages reach the most vulnerable children, parents, grandparents and other people caring for children, UNICEF has requested the support of the Romanian National Post Company for the free distribution of materials developed, in the first phase, of testing, in the counties of Bacău and Braşov. Thus, through postmen and postal agents, the company will distribute to the population, in early May, the information materials provided by the organization. Specifically, the postal factors will distribute, at the beginning of May, a total of 540,000 flyers in each county, and each beneficiary will receive, together with the postal items or social rights (pensions, allowances, unemployment, etc.) a copy of the three different materials.

"The Romanian Post is involved, free of charge, in this information campaign. The company has the necessary logistics and human resources to distribute to the population the information messages developed by UNICEF. Participating in this humanitarian action we are <part of people's lives>, as the company's slogan says ", said Horia Grigorescu, General Manager of the Romanian Post.

"We are glad to start this partnership because in this way our messages will be able to reach especially the most vulnerable categories, which do not have access to the internet and mobile communication devices. Romanian Post is a company with national coverage, whose support and involvement matters a lot in these times, said Pieter Bult, UNICEF representative in Romania.
