Presentation of Credentials by the new UNICEF Representative to Madagascar

Antananarivo, 06 October 2023 - The new UNICEF Representative to Madagascar, Christine Jaulmes, today, 06 October 2023, presented her credentials to the Head of Diplomacy of Madagascar, Ms Yvette Sylla, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Antananarivo. This ceremony marks the inauguration of Ms Jaulmes as UNICEF Representative in Madagascar.

Through this meeting, Ms Jaulmes renews UNICEF’s commitment to support the Malagasy Government in promoting the rights of every Malagasy child and improving the lives of the most vulnerable. The new Representative highlighted climate change issues that have a significant impact on the well-being of the country’s children, as well as the importance of protecting and educating girls.

Prior to her arrival in Madagascar, Ms Jaulmes was UNICEF Representative for the Kyrgyzstan office for over four years. She was also UNICEF Representative to Guinea-Bissau from September 2016 to June 2019.

Christine Jaulmes has more than 22 years of experience at UNICEF, since she joined the organization in July 2001 in Chad, where she held the position of Communications Officer of the office based in N'Djamena. In 2004, she became Head of Communications at UNICEF’s Nigeria office and in Bangladesh in February 2008, to provide technical expertise in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of an advocacy and communication strategy.

Before joining UNICEF, Ms Jaulmes had worked in the field of communication as Public Relations Officer at the Federation of associations and social inclusion – “Fédération des associations et mouvements d'insertion sociale” (FAMIS) in France.
