Framework for strengthening Water, Sanitation, & Hygiene (WASH) climate resilience

Extreme weather events in Indonesia, such as floods, droughts, and heavy rains, often occur with increasingly alarming intensity, impacting public services like drinking water and sanitation. Damaged infrastructure has led to a loss of access to drinking water and proper sanitation, hindering clean and healthy living practices.

Recognizing these challenges, the Government of Indonesia published the WASH Climate Resilience Strengthening Framework which aims to inform and improve existing development planning, budgeting, and implementation processes. The framework encourages the mainstreaming of concepts and principles of strengthening climate resilience into WASH-related policies and regulations, as well as into the preparation of development strategies, action plans, and operating procedures. It targets policymakers and practitioners at various levels to integrate WASH climate resilience within their respective spheres of influence.
