Today, Our Representative, Dr. Saja Farooq Abdullah had a productive meeting with Mrs. Bahar Muradova, the Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women, and Children Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan. 

Mrs. Bahar Muradova extended a warm welcome and good wish to the UNICEF representatives in Azerbaijan. 

Dr. Saja Farooq Abdullah acknowledge the strong partnership between UNICEF and the state Committee of Family, Women, and Children Affairs, and the critical initiatives the committee is leading in advancing child rights agenda in the country, emphasizing the Azerbaijani government’s commitment to this cause.  

Mrs. Bahar Muradova stressed the importance of cooperation in implementing the National Action Plan for Children’s Strategy (2020-2025). We must remove obstacles that hinder the development of children, harm their health, and endanger their future life” stated Mrs. Muradova. 

Notably, she highlighted the risk of explosive ordnance faced by returning people in the Karabakh region. 

Dr. Abdullah echoed the concern about explosive ordnance risk and stated that UNICEF Azerbaijan considers explosive ordnance risk education a top priority in its current programme .
