Highlights

This report provides a comprehensive overview of UNICEF Sudan’s health activities and results in 2021.

Sudan still has one of the lowest health indicators in the region and the disparity between urban and rural and between rich and poor is huge. Only seventy per cent of the population has access to a health facility within 30 minutes travel distance. Children still die from preventable or easily treatable diseases such as acute respiratory infections (including pneumonia), diarrhoeal diseases, malaria and neonatal conditions.

Despite the challenging operational environment and the COVID19 pandemic, UNICEF was able to make basic healthcare services accessible to some of the most vulnerable pregnant women and young mothers and children.
