Challenges
Reducing child poverty is a national priority. A clear understanding and regular monitoring of multidimensional child poverty as well as sound public financial policies are very important to devise an integrated social protection system that is responsive to the needs of Iran’s children.
Solutions
UNICEF works with the Government and other partners to:
Strengthen national capacities in understanding, mapping and tracking multidimensional child poverty.
Provide technical assistance and generate economic evidence to advocate for and support the development of integrated, inclusive social welfare policies and systems that can address all dimensions of child poverty.
Impact
The most disadvantaged children and women in Iran will enjoy increased benefits from more integrated, inclusive social welfare and poverty reduction policies and programmes.
Partner
The main partners are the Ministry of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare, the Planning and Budgeting Organization, and the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education.
