About us
UNICEF works to protect the rights of every child in Botswana
We believe that nurturing and caring for children are the cornerstones of human progress. UNICEF was created with this purpose in mind - to work with others to overcome the obstacles that poverty, violence, disease and discrimination place in a child's path.
UNICEF's Country Programme 2017-2021 focuses on practical ways to realize the rights of children. UNICEF's work spans five areas – HIV/AIDS; health & nutrition; education; child protection; and social policy. The programme aims for Batswana children, especially the most disadvantaged children and families, to have access to and benefit from quality social services, knowledge and opportunities, and thereby have a fair chance in life. Given Botswana’s development and economic status, UNICEF’s uses a variety of approaches, including policy guidance, introducing innovations, and advocacy.
