Serena Williams
UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Alumna
Serena Williams is one of the greatest tennis players of all time. Serena holds 23 Grand Slam singles titles and four Olympic gold medals.
Serena first teamed up with UNICEF in 2006 when she travelled to Ghana in support of the country’s biggest health campaign. Appointed a Goodwill Ambassador in 2011, Serena championed the UNICEF Schools for Africa initiative, providing education to the most marginalized and vulnerable children. Most recently, Serena supported the #EveryChildAlive campaign, advocating for affordable, quality health care for every mother and newborn. She wrote a powerful op-ed for CNN, sharing her life-threatening experience after giving birth to her daughter Olympia.
Serena’s remarkable tennis achievements, combined with her off-court success in fashion, philanthropy and business, make her one of the most recognizable icons in the world and a powerful voice for women. In 2020, Serena launched her own venture capital firm, Serena Ventures, which focuses on investing in companies that embrace diverse leadership, individual empowerment, creativity and opportunity.
