UNICEF Deputy Representative of Operations in Pakistan
Mr. Mustafa Deniz
Mustafa Deniz is the Deputy Representative of Operations for UNICEF in Pakistan. He brings with him a wealth of experience in the international fields having worked in various domains at several international organizations. He has demonstrated expertise in finance, budgeting, HR, procurement, ICT management, and has a strong background in international organizations including change management. Mustafa also holds a CPA certificate and has skills also in internal control, negotiation, business and strategic planning, internal audit, and teamwork.
He has extensive experience in emergency and conflict zones and in Restructuring, Human Resource Management, Project Control, Programming and Partnership, Result-Based Management, and Budgeting.
Mustafa has previously worked as a Regional Controller and Senior Budget Officer at UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, at Regional Bureau for East and Horn of Africa and Great Lakes where he has served under the strategic planning and management division. Before that, he was the Senior Regional Administrative and Finance Officer in Central Asia. He has also served as Chief Finance Officer at International Civil Aviation Organization’s office in Kenya, Director General of Finance and Admin at Organization of Islamic Cooperation and as Chief Finance Auditor at the Ministry of Treasury and Finance in Turkey.
Mustafa's educational background includes a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in International Relations from Middle East Technical University, a master’s degree in management of Financial Resources, Management of Public Organizations, and Management of Information System from Carnegie Mellon University, and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Ankara University.
In his free time, Mustafa enjoys hiking, museums, reading and football.
Mustafa is married and is the proud father of two daughters and a son.
