Interagency Emergency Health Kits: information note

Medicines and medical equipment to meet the initial primary healthcare needs of a population of 10,000 people for three months

About

The Interagency Emergency Health Kit (IEHK) is designed principally to meet the priority health needs of a population affected by emergencies, who have limited access to routine health care services. Custom modules can be added to serve more specific needs, such as the Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) kit for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.

The kit is ideal for rapid deployment and prepositioning as part of emergency response preparedness. In order to facilitate secondary dispatch, transport, handling, and inventory management in emergency situations by field and logistic staff, UNICEF introduced a new and innovative labelling structure, colour coding, and symbols.
