The Impact of COVID-19 on Adolescent Girls in Ghana
A Mixed-method Study
Highlights
Globally, the lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic had significant impacts on children, forcing their lives to move increasingly online and access to services becoming limited. This situation intensified the existing challenges faced by adolescent girls in their transition from childhood to adulthood.
The study aimed at understanding the impacts of COVID-19 and school closures in Ghana on vulnerable adolescent girls, including those related to sexual and reproductive health and mental health. The evidence gathered was used to inform programs aimed at ending child marriage and addressing the needs of adolescent girls in the context of COVID-19.
